Most Quit After Three Nothings, But Not Elijah

The seventh prayer was not more powerful than the first. The difference was persistence. Elijah refused to stop until heaven's answer appeared.

Most Quit After Three Nothings, But Not Elijah

Go and look toward the sea, he told his servant. And he went up and looked. There is nothing there, he said. Seven times Elijah said, Go back. The seventh time the servant reported, A cloud as small as a man's hand is rising from the sea.

"There is nothing there." Six times Elijah's servant returned with the same disappointing report. Rather than giving up, Elijah persisted in prayer until the answer appeared.

Persistence, not eloquence

Child of God, the seventh prayer was not more powerful than the first. The difference was persistence. Elijah refused to stop until heaven's answer appeared.

The Lord is not impressed by the length of your prayers. What moves Him is your persistence. What situations has God called you to persevere praying over?

Today, choose to persist in prayer. Persistent prayer is a mark of a powerful prayer life.

Prayer

Father, I'm picking up that prayer I abandoned. Give me the persistence to pray through until the breakthrough comes. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
